The last couple of weeks have been one of those periods when I just don't seem to able to get in the sea as either, family commitments or the swell/tides don't want to play ball. On these barren days I still like to find a period where I can focus on surfing, whether it's a session of yoga, indo board, other fitness or even watching a surfing DVD / ASP on the net.
The fact is that I know full well that as it's September when the surf does come it's likely to be pumping. And that was indeed the case over the weekend, with a decent four foot day on Saturday and then a trip to Fistral on Sunday saw some set waves rolling in at double overhead at the North end. Fitness wise I felt fairly good considering I hadn't seen any waves in over 14 days, however I was cursing only taking my shorter board over there as speed wobbles were the theme of the day, it look as if many others were also limited by their board as the size of set waves much bigger than predicted. So my resolution for the future is to do a little more upper body fitness and get my big wave equipment in order.

How good was the final of the ASP at Tresltes with Kelly Slater making a come back after being in a combo situation. It's almost certain he'll pick up his 9th title now at the age of 36. As I'm only a year behind him in age it's certainly insperational to see that he's still pushing back the limits of what can be done in surfing, a true legend.

The next leg of the tour is only a day away to held at Hossegor France set to start on September 19th and to be finished by the 28th. Check http://www1.quiksilverprofrance.com/index.php
